2017 Regional Economic Development Council Awards Announcement Scheduled

Governor Andrew Cuomo will announce the winners of the 2017 Regional Economic Development Council Awards on Wednesday, December 13th at 11 a.m. in Albany.

The CNY REDC selected 38 priority projects that were submitted to the State for funding through the CFA process. A total of $21,203,550 in ESD grant funding has been requested by the CNY REDC. The total cost for these projects is $158,501,906, with the retention of 2,216 jobs and the creation of 582 jobs.

Of the 38 projects submitted, eight (21%) are in Oswego County. Below are the descriptions of those projects.

Brockway Bedding Inc. proposed a new 20,000 sf high-efficiency manufacturing facility in the Town of Granby that will use soft wood logs to produce animal bedding. The CNY REDC has recommended a $325,000 ESD grant for their $2,000,000 project. The project will create 7 jobs.

Camelot Lodge LLC - Former YMCA Building submitted plans for a mixed-use project in the City of Oswego. The renovated building will have 5,500 sf of commercial space and 10 loft apartments. The CNY REDC has recommended a $165,000 ESD grant their $1,614,000 project.

Douglas Outdoors, LLC proposed a new manufacturing facility, in the Town of Richland, to produce high-end, composite fishing rods and other advanced composite parts. The CNY REDC has recommended a $600,000 ESD grant for their $4,300,000 project. The project will create 40 jobs.

Fulton Group NA, Inc., in the Town of Richland, will invest in machinery, equipment, and research and development activities to create new product offerings. The CNY REDC has recommended a $1,500,000 ESD grant for their $11,250,000 project. The project will create 27 jobs.

Hudsons Dairy, Inc. will construct and equip a 6,000 sf refrigerated warehouse facility for dairy foods, with a 1,500 sf outside freezer, in the City of Fulton. The CNY REDC has recommended a $220,000 ESD grant for their $1,150,000 project. The project will create 5 jobs.

North Ridge Dairy, in the Town of Sandy Creek, will construct and equip a 40,000 sf enclosed facility and build 1,000 feet of rail siding to consolidate storing and mixing of feed. They currently milk 2,500 cows and anticipate growing that number to 4,400 by 2019. The CNY REDC has recommended a $268,000 ESD grant for their $1,785,500 project. The project will create 7 jobs.

Virgilio's Event Centre, LLC submitted plans for the construction of a 3,800 sf outdoor covered patio, outdoor grill area and 12 new cabins. Their target events are weddings and corporate gatherings. The CNY REDC has recommended a $200,000 ESD grant for their $1,000,000 project. The project will create 8 jobs.

Young Men's Christian Association of Oswego, Inc. submitted plans for the construction of a connector corridor, with locker rooms and lounge area, to the existing but currently unused pool. The CNY REDC has recommended a $150,000 ESD grant for their $750,000 project. The project will create 8 jobs.
