A New Year, A New You

With the new year rapidly approaching and those New Years Resolutions will be in full force if you're looking to get in phenomenal shape, mentally, physically, or both, SUNY Oswego Alumni Sarah Langer has just what you need.

Lagner had attended SUNY Oswego from 2011-2014. Unfortunately, Lagner took a year off after losing her Father, Aunt, and Grandfather all within the same year. "After the loss of my Father, Grandfather and Aunt I became very depressed and very lost," said Lagner.

During this stage of her life, Lagner packed on 63 pounds, developed self-harming habits and started dabbling in drugs and alcohol. It was at this point that Lagner, hit rock bottom.

"One day I decided that I was going to live for me, and for the family that I had lost," she said. "I fight depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I am prone to be genetically heavy and unhealthy. But I wake up each morning knowing what I have to do to maintain both my physical and mental health. The wellness industry changed my life," stated Lagner.

Lagner joined a gym, started meditating, went to therapy, and became healthy in body and in mind. It was at this point that she had an epiphany. She was living proof that anyone could lift themselves from the trenches, to living a full and healthy life and so could other people. Lagner vowed to help anybody who wanted to improve their mental and physical health.

There are over 700 different programs that target many aspects of the fitness world from weight loss, muscle gain, endurance training, yoga and more. Everything in the program comes with meal plans, recipes, even grocery lists. "My programs are designed to teach you how to be healthy for a lifetime!" Lagner stated.

Lagner firmly believes that exercise and eating right are linked to mental health. To this point Lagner says,"Take care of yourself now, not only for later as we age, but to live a healthy, happy, and active life throughout your life." Lagner would later come back to SUNY Oswego in 2016, and graduate with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Business Administration.
