There are four YoBerry stores in New York State, with Oswego being the newest addition. The environment is always friendly and welcoming at this exciting new business.
YoBerry is a fairly new company that is just getting situated in New York. According the Oswego Store Owner Candace Brown, they may expand in the future. Originally starting in Geneseo, N.Y., YoBerry has already expanded to Canandaigua, Irondequoit and now Oswego.
“We wanted to branch out someplace that didn’t have a store like this for at least a few good miles,” Brown said. “We wanted a more untapped market where we would be a new and exciting concept for the city or town that we chose to go into instead of being one of many.”
As their first store was so close to SUNY Geneseo, YoBerry believed Oswego would be a good fit being close to the university.
“The college was a great boost to our business so being near SUNY Oswego was definitely a factor we were looking for,” Brown said.
So far, the Oswego Community has really taken to YoBerry with excitement and enthusiasm.
“It’s been really wonderful,” Brown said. “Everyone has been really welcoming and wishing us luck. We have customer surveys and they’ve been coming back saying ‘We’re so glad you’ve come to Oswego’ and ‘We really needed something like this.’ So it’s really been a great experience. We’ve had great patrons.”
YoBerry also offers lots of deals and events to costumers like their buy one get one free special it ran during the Fourth of July. It will also host Elsa and Olaf from the Disney film “Frozen” on Sunday, July 20 to say hello to the kids. YoBerry will have its rewards program where customers earn points for every dollar spent at the store.
“This is a fun almost destination type of facility. The experience is a bit part of it. It’s more than just something to eat,” Brown said. “It’s a whole experience that you can enjoy with your family or your friends. It can be a place to hang out. The toppings change and the flavors change so it’s kind of fun to see what’s new and what’s different.”
YoBerry changes its flavors every two to four weeks so there is always something different to try.
Although she commutes from Rochester, Brown enjoys being a business owner in Oswego.
“I love being a business owner because it allows for creativity,” Brown said. “I can work around the clock but still have some flexibility for my family life as well. I love having staff, my staff is amazing, my manager is amazing, and everyone is great to work with. I enjoy coming out here, I look forward to being in Oswego. It’s a beautiful place to be.”
A fun and family-friendly environment makes YoBerry Frozen Yogurt bar a real asset to the Oswego community, offering something new. It offers a variety of flavors and loads of toppings that can be chosen frozen to design your own unique frozen treat.
“We’re really excited to be here,” Brown said of Oswego. “We’re really enjoying meeting the patrons and the people of Oswego.”
