Activities and event roundup for the week of Harborfest

     This week brings the 26th annual Harborfest to Oswego! We have pulled together many of the activities throughout the week in the Port City for you:

♥ The public is invited to a reception for a new library exhibit featuring the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse from 6-7 p.m., to meet the current keeper, Ted Panayotoff, and enjoy some refreshments. Panayotoff has extensively researched the West Pierhead Lighthouse and will be available to answer any questions.


♥ John D. Murray Firefighter's Museum, 35 E. Cayuga St., will be open from 12-4 p.m.

♥ Harborfest Children's Gala from 6-7:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park. For more information, click Children's Gala.


♥ Kids Pirate Day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the H. Lee White Marine Museum, end of West First Street Pier. Click Kids Pirate Day for more information. 

♥ The Harborfest Midway opens from 5-11 p.m. and is located at Wrights Landing Parking Lot on Lake Street in Oswego.

      2013 Harborfest Midway Hours:

     July 24: 5-11 p.m.
     July 25: 5-11 p.m.
     July 26: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
     July 27: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
     July 28: 12-5 p.m.


♥ John D. Murray Firefighter's Museum, 35 E. Cayuga St., will be open from 12-4 p.m.
♥ Opening of the 26th annual Harborfest:
     5 p.m. 42nd Infantry Band
     7 p.m. Van Halen Nation (Van Halen – Tribute Band)
     8:30 p.m. Opening Ceremonies
     9:15 p.m. The Devonshires

♥ There will be an Oswego Farmers' Market this week which will include a wood turning demonstration by Lakeside Artisan John Ruttan in the Lakeside Artisan building, 191 W. First St.


♥ "Bridge Street Live at Harborfest," 10 a.m., at Breitbeck Park
♥ Children's Parade (Breitbeck Park to Franklin Square) 1:30 p.m.
♥ Senior Concerts at Franklin Square at 12:45 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m.
♥ Performances at Veteran's Stage in West Linear Park at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
♥ Jazz performances start at 1:30 p.m. and are at 2 hour intervals with the last performance at 9:30 p.m. The Jazz Stage is located in Washington Square Park (East Park)
♥ Oswego City-County Youth Bureau presents the Children's Musical "Ellis Island...The American Dream" at 5 p.m. at Novelis Family Park (Franklin Square)
♥ Foghat performs at Breitbeck Park, 8 p.m.
♥ Blue Oyster Cult performs at Breitbeck Park, 9:15 p.m.


♥ Oswego City-County Youth Bureau presents the Children's Musical "Ellis Island...The American Dream" at 11 a.m., and at 2:30 p.m. at Novelis Family Park (Franklin Square).
♥ The Marionette Magic Theater will also be at the Novelis Family Park performing at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

♥ Breitbeck Park will have music starting at 3:30 p.m. and running through the afternoon and evening with a break for the Grucci Fireworks Spectacular. The featured band performing before the fireworks (at 8:45 p.m.) and after the fireworks (at 10 p.m.) is Live Wire, an AC / DC tribute band.

♥ There will be music all afternoon and into the early evening at both the Veteran's Stage at West Linear Park and the Jazz and Blues Stage in Washington Square Park.

♥ Grucci Fireworks Spectacular, sponsored by Entergy Nuclear, will begin at 9:30 p.m. The best viewing for the Entergy "Fireworks Spectacular by Grucci" ranges from Fort Ontario on the east side of Oswego to the inner harbor and Breitbeck park areas on the west side. During the fireworks, bring a portable radio and listen to the long-time simulcast partner, WNYO at 88.9 FM, as they simulcast the Entergy song list that the fireworks are coordinated with.


♥ There will be a Community Worship with the Rev. Bruce Shrader at 9 a.m. in Franklin Square Park.
♥ The Palladium-Times Children's Stage will also host "Oswego's Got Talent" at 2:15 p.m.
♥ Real Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute band, will close out Harborfest in style at 5 p.m. in Breitbeck Park.



♥ Fort Ontario State Historic Site, in Oswego, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for a Civil War encampment and radio-controlled airplane show. Click Fort Ontario for more information. 

♥ Heritage Foundation of Oswego County's Annual Antique Show & Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday. The show will be held indoors at the Oswego YMCA Armory at the corner of West First and West Utica Streets. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, attendees will have the opportunity to bring in their treasured antiques and have them professionally appraised. Click Antique Show for more information. 

♥ There is also an Oswego Health Stage in Breitbeck Park which will have a variety of performances throughout Harborfest.
