Registration for this program will open Monday, June 6. A link to the registration form will be posted on this page: http://www.oswegoarts.org/education/art-for-youth-summer-art-series-for-children/.
Classes are designed and taught by certified art teachers. The cost is a one-time registration fee of $10 per child. We offer a discount fee of $25 to families with 3 or more children living in the same household. AAO will accept payment for this low-cost program via PayPal.
Spots will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis; payment must be received within 24 hours of submitting the application to reserve your chosen spot(s). Sessions are limited to 20 participants each.
When you submit the on-line registration you will receive an email from AAO confirming we received your registration information. A second email will be sent to you once the payment has been received. Only then will your child/ren be assured a spot.
We ask that parents sign up only children who are truly interested in art classes and can attend at least 5 of the 7 classes, as many classes are cumulative and missing a week makes it more difficult to finish the projects.
There will also be a standard of behavior we expect children to comply with. If we have to reprimand your child for misbehaving more than one time, we’ll ask you to retrieve your child immediately and he/she will not be able to return to the program for the rest of the summer.
We’re trying a slightly new format this year. There will be two sessions for most of the age groups: the “for fun” session, geared toward less experienced children, which will focus more on the process of the projects; and the “challenge” session, geared toward students who have participated in our program for 2+ years or who are more skilled, and will focus more on achieving a specific end result.
All groups will spend half their class time focused on 2-dimensional artwork and the other half focused on 3-dimensional artwork each day. Students in the 3-5 age group must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All other age groups will work on a drop-off and pick-up system. Parents are welcome to observe part or all of a class if they desire.
The schedule is as follows:
Session 1 : 8:30-10:00 : ages 3-5, beginner/fun
Session 2 : 10:00-noon : ages 9-12, advanced/challenge
Session 3 : 8:30-10:30 : ages 6-8, beginner/fun
Session 4 : 10:30-noon : ages 3-5, advanced/challenge
Session 5 : 1:00-3:00 : teens, advanced/challenge
Session 6 : 8:30-10:30 : ages 9-12, beginner/fun
Session 7 : 10:30-12:30 : ages 6-8, advanced/challenge
