CNY Arts Center Arty Camp 2018 is gearing up for another summer of art adventure and great projects.

The popular summer art camp will be back in its familiar location at the Arts Hotspot at 47 S. First St in downtown Fulton running July 9 – August 17th. Once again the camp will offer six weeks of art and theatre classes with alternating weeks for each. All classes will take place downtown, including Theatre classes.

“Even though our new Community Arts Center downtown isn’t ready for programming,” said Camp Director Bonnie McClellan, “we didn’t want to interrupt Arty Camp in its 7th year of continuous art and theatre programming. The best way to do that is bring everything together in one location with alternate weeks. Kids will have the convenience of a full day of art alternating with theatre classes in the mornings every other week. Arty Camp 2018 will be just as exciting as ever.”

This year’s full day art camp includes activities in visual and theatre arts. Acrylic painting, Under the Sea art, Art in nature, Garden and plant inspired art, the wonderful world of color, string art, cartooning and woodworking are among the classes planned. Aspiring actors learn improvisation and acting skills, performing written art, poetry, rap and spoken word, and Shake it up with Shakespeare. Parents are invited to presentations of theatre pieces created by the campers, and exhibits of completed art projects at the close of each session. Scholarship support is available by a generous grant from the Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation and the Don Gillespie Arty Camp Scholarship Fund.

The popular midday program of free lunches and art projects, made possible by OCO and a grant from Oswego City/County Youth Bureau will be open, free to any child in the county. From noon to 2pm every child who attends will have a free lunch and make a free art project to take home.

Tuition Gift Certificates are available for purchase at any time by calling 315-598-ARTS (2787). Visit the website, CNYArtsCenter.com for more information about the organization.
