Bistro 197

Bistro 197, 197 W. First St., Canal Commons; a delicious addition to the Oswego growing population of good eats!

 Friday night 6pm:

We were seated immediately and offered drinks.  Now my husband and I check out the menu.  My picky husband is always a concern when eating out, he really doesn't like recognizable meat.  Predictably, he ordered the hamburger.  I spotted the stuffed pork chops and asked if it could be cooked to order (medium), I was delighted to hear "yes" from our waiter.  Our selections were very good choices; my husband stated that the hamburger ate more like an entree and was very good.  My dinner was sweet and savory all at the same time and there was enough to have again the next day (and I did).  The waitstaff was attentive and the meal was overall very good.  Dessert was the Banana Bread Pudding served fresh and warm with a side of vanilla ice cream.  That dessert was outstanding.  The beer and wine selections were very good and we enjoyed our choices there as well  One drawback: Everytime the door opened the wind blew in but after a glass of wine, it was not a problem!
