The United Baptist Church of Scriba will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner at the Mexico VFW, located on Route 3, on March 19th to support our local “Blessings in a Backpack” program in Mexico. Serving will start at 4 pm and continue until 7 pm. Guest chef, Brian Taylor, will be managing the kitchen during this event.

At 5 pm our four judges (United Baptist Church of Scriba Pastor, Terry Nichols; New Haven Alliance Pastor, Dan Groh; New Haven Elementary Principal, Rick Chapman, Lycoming Methodist Church Sunday School Superintendent, Linda Fischer) will begin taste testing meatballs from these 6 locations who have donated them to the cause: Daddy Ed’s, The Bake Shop Eatery, The Eis House, Bosco and Geer’s Market, Canale’s and Paul’s Big M. They will determine who is rewarded with the “Best Meatballs in Oswego County” trophy that evening.

Several “FREE” gift certificate drawings will also take place during the dinner thanks to Vona’s Restaurant, Paulanjo’s Pizza, The Bake Shop Eatery, and Stefano’s Pizzeria. You need not be there when the drawing takes place to win!

Dinners will include: spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad, Italian bread and dessert. Take outs will be available.

For your listening pleasure, the “Snowbelter’s Barbershop Chorus” will be providing musical entertainment during parts of the event.

Advance sale tickets may be purchased by contacting Carla Stelmach at (315-416-6116); Adults $8.00 and children 12 and under $5.00. Prices at the door will be as follows: Adults: $10.00 and children 12 and under $6.00.
Proceeds from this event will go toward sending food home every week of the school year with elementary school age children who are in the “free or reduced meal program” at the New Haven Elementary school. It costs $80 to support one child for an entire school year. Please contact Carla if you can’t attend but would still like to donate to the cause.
