The Board is excited to donate a space dedicated to the arts and imaginative play, and shares the Children’s Museum’s mission of promoting intellectual and physical development in the children of our community. Both areas will be accessible to visitors when the renovated and expanded Museum opens in 2019.
The Interactive Arts Wall will offer children a chance to experiment with a variety of different art forms and mediums when they visit the Museum. Infants and young toddlers will be able to engage in age-appropriate arts activities at their level, while older children will have space to make art and engage in more complex activities higher up on the wall. Through playing with the Interactive Arts Wall and manipulating materials children will be honing motor skills, developing problem solving techniques, and unlocking their creativity. Children will also have the opportunity to see their art displayed in the Museum. The Gallery will showcase art from local students of all ages on a rotating basis.
Children’s Board is a not for profit community organization dedicated to enhancing the physical, emotional, and cultural well-being of the children of Oswego County. The organization is made up entirely of volunteers and has been active in the community for over 80 years. Children’s Board spearheads a number of initiatives benefiting children in the area, such as providing assistance to families in need, awarding a scholarship to eligible college-bound students, and distributing poison control and prevention information to school nurses. Children’s Board also recently launched a literacy campaign, donating board books to Oswego Health’s Maternity Center so that each child born at Oswego Hospital can go home with a new book.
