Hastings native Don Hilton has been gathering signatures from voters to have his name on the ballot for the Primary election September 13th.

Working to appear on the Republican and Conservative Ballot, Hilton has spent the last weeks talking to voters and gathering the needed signatures. With overwhelming support, he has exceeded the necessary signatures to appear on both the Republican and Conservative lines.

Touting over 30 years of law enforcement experience Don Hilton hopes to return his career to the Oswego County Sheriffs Department, where he began nearly 30 years ago when he served as a Corrections Officer. With experience ranging from S.W.A.T. Team Leader, Major Crimes Coordinator, Federal Drug Task Force, Chief Homicide Investigator and more, Hilton plans to combine all his experience and implement proven methods to prevent and reduce crime in Oswego County.

As Sheriff, Don Hilton will focus on combating the deadly opioid crisis by securing federal funding, using joint task forces, and focusing on prevention and treatment programs. In addition to his opioid plans, finding ways to restructure inmate transportation from the jail is high on Hilton's list, which will reduce costs, free up Deputies to be on the road and simplify the court process. Hilton has also said he wants to revitalize the department by bringing needed changes and improvements to the department to ensure success.
