“Our hope is that these classes will be a fun and healthy way to bring the community, youth and families together. The program has been in the works for a number of years now, giving us that much more excitement to introduce it to the CNY area.” Says Mike Pikulinski, a founder of the Get Hooked program.
Classes will be held on the beautiful Oneida Lake, ranked 40 for top national bass fishing lakes in the country, and will take place once a month for a duration of 6 months. To kick-off the program, all registered participants will experience an Elite Pro Day to showcase some of the pro anglers who
endorse and support the program. Some of the pros scheduled to appear include Randy Howell, 2014 Bassmaster Champion, Brent Chapman, Jacob Powroznik, and more.
Get Hooked participants will be trained on different rod and reel set-ups, differences in fishing line, fishing knots, artificial baits and lures, all while learning to think, adapt and react instantly to the fishing environment. They will learn environmental conservation, catch and release, boater safety, comradery, and positive fishing etiquette to stand out from the rest.
Registration for Get Hooked classes begins July 2015. The program is accepting the first 15 students that sign-up to keep the class size small which will ensure a personal learning environment and close-knit experience.
