James W. Benson, 80, a resident of Oswego, passed away Saturday, at the Morningstar Residential Care Center.

Jim was born in Oswego, the son of the late William Kehoe Benson, and the late Molly Fay (Hart) Benson.

He was a 1956 graduate of Oswego High School.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1962.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed, from 1967 to 1980, as a Police Officer with the City of Oswego.

He is survived by his son, Bill (Pauline) Benson of Phoenix; two daughters, Brenda (Robert) Mahnken of Baldwinsville, and Kim (Dan) Miller of Schenectady; seven grandchildren, Jamee, Will, Allicia, James, Susanna, Benjamin, and Emma; and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.

Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Oswego Salvation Army, 73 West Second Street, Oswego, NY 13126.
