Owner, Shawn Herron, believes that Jreck's is the perfect fit for the Oswego community. "I think that Jreck's, specifically in Upstate New York, probably has the most powerful brand that I've ever seen," Herron said. "It's definitely a university town, but Oswegonian's are obsessed with buying local and they support their local businesses."
Herron, who is from Watertown, NY, owns four other Jreck Subs in the franchise throughout New York state. According to Herron, up until 1996, Jreck Subs was located where a Subway restaurant now resides on East Bridge Street and he believed it was time to bring it back. "We have a warm place in our hearts for Jreck's," said a customer picking up lunch to go. "It's wonderful to see their triumphant return and it's great to see a whole new generation embracing it."
Five high school teachers started the first Jreck Subs in 1967 in Carthage, NY. There are currently more than 40 shops in Central New York. Herron, who bought his first shop about a year ago, assures the value of their food service is above most sandwich shops.
"We generally have more meat on our sandwiches then a lot of our competitors," Herron said. "The quality of the meat is exceptionally high."
Jreck Subs is located on 173 W. First St. and can be contacted at 315-343-7827. They are currently hiring and specifically looking for delivery drivers.
