All proceeds from the event will go the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises money for life-saving childhood cancer research.
Julian Ross was a Kingsford Park student who lost his courageous battle with cancer this past summer, and the race is being held on what would have been his eleventh birthday. His younger brother Brayden recently participated in the 10th annual St. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego head-shaving event, raising more money than any other individual, and his mother, Kristi Thompson-Ross, has been an active volunteer for St. Baldrick’s for years.
The Kids’ Run will start at 8 AM and the 5K Run/Walk will follow at 8:30. Awards will be given to the first three male and female 5K finishers. Registration for both runs can be completed at www.oswego5K.com. T-shirts, ribbons, and post-run refreshments will be provided to all registrants. There will also be raffles, including a grand prize of four Disney World “Hopper Passes,” valid through 2017.
This year’s races are sponsored in part by Cre8 Studios, Pinnacle Builders USA Inc, and the Village of Hannibal Recreation Department. Questions should be directed to race organizer Dom Pike at 315/591-8833.
