Lakers Set Personal Bests at All-Atlantic Region Championship

Members of both the Oswego State men's and women's track and field teams set personal records as they finished competing at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Brockport, N.Y. The women scored 12 points to finish 17th of 25 teams, while the men recorded 13 points to finish 19th of 28 teams.

Coming off of setting a new program record, Carly Vreugde put on another impressive performance in the 400-meter dash. The sophomore placed third with a time of 58.40 to rack up six points for the Laker women. Vreugde also participated in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 25.89 to finish in 13th.

Sarah Yensan, who earned All-Conference honors at the SUNYAC Championship, set a new personal best in the long jump with a distance of 5.68 meters to earn fourth place. Tylea McCarthy-Walker competed in the long jump as well, recording a distance of 5.50 meters to place 11th.

In the high jump, Yensan finished with a height of 1.52 meters to pick up a point for Oswego.

Wrapping up the action for the women's team was Shaniece Gregory, who placed 14th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.51.

For the men, Nick LeClair picked up three points with a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run. The junior finished with a time of 1:55.84, notching a new personal record.

Next, the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place from May 24-26 in La Crosse, Wis.
