The Oswego State men's soccer team pushed Oneonta to the limit before falling on the road on Saturday.

Oswego seemed poise to grab a lead late but some bad fortune and a Red Dragon tally spoiled the opportunity.

THE BASICS

  • Result: Oneonta 1, Oswego 0
  • Location: Red Dragon Field – Oswego, N.Y.
  • Records: Oneonta 6-3-2 (3-1-0 SUNYAC)  |  Oswego 3-5-1 (0-3-0 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A defensive struggle for the majority of the game, Oswego had its best chance in the 80th minute.
  • Junior Caleb Asamoah ripped a shot that hit the post and ricocheted back into the field of play.
  • Iviko Gejadze collected the rebound and had the goalie out of position but the attempt missed just wide of the right post.
  • A little more than six minutes later, Oneonta notched the eventual game-winner as it cashed in a through pass at 80:43.
  • Brian Terra spent the entire game between the pipes for the Lakers, stopping three Oneonta on-goal chances.

WHAT'S NEXT

Oswego will return to home for next weekend's SUNYAC contests, starting with a 4 p.m. tile with Plattsburgh on Friday.
