The H. Lee White Maritime Museum's Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse Committee worked for over a year to offer the Oswego Lighthouse Benefit Auction this past Saturday April 25th as part of Love our Lighthouse Day held at the American Foundry. Meanwhile, other community residents were working to raise funds in other unique ways.

As part of the first ever Adult Prom held on April 18th, resident and dedicated volunteer Michele Hamer coordinated two other fund raising events - a Chicken BBQ at Gibby's Irish Pub and a Taco Night held at the Oswego Yacht Club. Adult Prom, a fundraising event for multiple local not-for-profit organizations, required individuals to raise funds prior to the Prom itself. Hamer's surpassed her $2000 goal by raising over $3600 for the Lighthouse.

"She raised a lot of money and was crowned Adult Prom Princess as the second runner up," Mercedes Niess, Executive Director of the Maritime Museum said, "we are so grateful to Michele for her enthusiasm and energy to raise funds and support for the Oswego Lighthouse project."

The museum's appreciation is extended as Hamer has been selected as the Museum's April "Volunteer of the Month". A crowning achievement for any volunteer.
