Madaline Adkins, 94, a resident of Scriba passed away on March 13 at the Morningstar Care Center.

Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Gertrude (LeRoy) Rowlee and was a graduate of the Oswego High School.

She was employed with the Taggart Corporation and was an active member of the United Baptist Church of Scriba.

Madaline and her husband, Kenneth Adkins Sr. who predeceased her in 1992 ran the Woolhaven Farms in Scriba. They raised sheep on the farm and won many ribbons at the New York State Fair for the showing of their sheep. She was a member of the Baldwinsville Handspinners.

Madaline organized and was a member of a charitable knitting group called the Knit-Wits. She was well known as a master spinner and was a mentor to many new spinners. People use to come to the barn on her farm just to learn from her. Mrs. Adkins was a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Scriba Historical Society..

Surviving are her three children, Kenneth (Betty) Adkins Jr. of Scriba, Judith (John) Garrison of Palermo and Karen (Frank) Russo of Higganum, CT., her grandchildren, Michael (Alison) Adkins of Denues PA., Amy (Bernhard Gros) Adkins of New Paltz, Craig (Jamie) Adkins of Rochester, Blake (Allison) Adkins of Scriba, Scott (Ala) MacDougall of Missouri, Douglas (Linda) MacDougall of Volney, Leonard (Terilynn) MacDougall of Mexico, Frank Russo Jr. and Brian Russo of Connecticut and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 12:30 from the United Baptist Church of Scriba ,5111 State Route 104 E .
