Marvin F. Bailey, 80, of town of Oswego, born on April 27, 1939 died unexpectedly on August 1st, 2019.

Raised in Oswego, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Elizabeth (Thompson) Bailey.

Marvin was a Tech Sergeant in the US Air Force and served for 20 years, retiring in 1976. He worked in equipment repair for both Miller’s Millwright and International Paper Millwright, retiring in 2001.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He loved going bowling to tournaments and traveling. He was like the energizer bunny who kept going and loved to be busy.

He loved going to church at Journey of Faith. He always wanted to help and would drop everything to do so. He loved sweets and was happy and always smiling!

He took pride in being an Air Force Veteran. He visited Plattsburgh A.F.B. this past Summer. He loved talking about his service.

He always passed on his knowledge to his family and taught his grandchildren everything they know. He was his grandchildren’s #1 supporter. He would always go bowling with them, play softball with his granddaughter Kaitlyn and go to soccer games in any weather, rain or shine. He was always the first one there.

If you were having a bad day or were sad he would always find a way to make you feel better. He was the most selfless person there was.

Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn (Brian) Grant of Oswego; and his loving grandchildren Brandon and Kaitlyn Grant and Sherrie and Allison Bailey.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was predeceased by his wife Irene (West) Bailey in 2010, his son, Douglas Bailey in 2014, a sister Sharon, and brothers Raymond, Eugene and Edward.

Calling hours will be held 11AM to 1PM, with a service to follow, Thursday August 8th at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street Oswego.

Burial will be in North Volney Cemetery with Military Honors.
