Mary Ann “Annie” DeLand, 75, a resident of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, at St. Luke Health Services.

Annie was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Leverett and Mary (Bruce) Sheldon. She grew up in the Oswego area and was a graduate of Mexico High School.

She lived in Scriba and worked at the Nine Mile 2 nuclear plant until 1986, when she moved to New Jersey, and she became employed with the Con Edison Corp. in Manhattan.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a quality control inspector with the Entergy Corp. at the Indian Point Nuclear Facility in Buchanan. In 2007, she returned to Central New York after her retirement.

She was active in politics, and worked for the New York State Democratic Committee on the campaigns of Barack Obama and Darrel Aubertine.

She was an enthusiastic admirer of the theater.

Annie loved children, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She adored them all.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Terry) Etzler of California, and Suzanne (Carlos) Morales of Florida; two sons, David (Carrie) Sheldon of Red Creek, and Walter (Sharon) DeLand of Oswego; a brother, Victor (Joanne) Sheldon of Scriba; two sisters, Sylvia Maynes of Fulton, and Arlene (Raymond) Polczak of Oswego; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Alyse, Steven, David, Grace, Vivian, Elizabeth, Faith, and Ava; a great-granddaughter, Alina; and many nieces, nephews. great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Sheldon; and a sister, Carolyn Bergman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Monday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Peck’s Cemetery in Scriba.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 Sunday, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
