Morningstar Hosts Luncheon for Married Couples

Happy faces, good food, and cherished companionship lit up the dining room during the Morningstar Residential Care Center`s Married Couples Luncheon. The event is a new edition to the growing list of activities available to the facilities` residents.

The idea of a doing something special for its married couples first came to mind during Morningstar's Valentine's Day celebration. According to Kelsey Rose, director of activities, the feedback she and her staff received inspired them to add the married couples luncheon to their activities calendar.

"The luncheon was a big hit. They enjoyed each other's company and were happy to be able to have a nice meal together and share their stories. Our married couples thought it was wonderful and we will be having more of these in the future," said Rose.

Activities Aide, Heidi Baldwin echoed those thoughts and added that themed events are always welcome. "Whether it's a casual event like men's night or ladies' night or a more formal event like our veterans' luncheon and our holiday luncheons, which their family members often join us for, our residents have a great time and look forward to them," said Baldwin.

One of the few residential care facilities that offer shared rooms for married couples; Morningstar is currently the home of seven married couples. Located at 17 Sunrise Drive in Oswego, Morningstar Residential Care Center is a family-owned and operated, 120-bed long-term and sub-acute skilled nursing facility with full rehabilitation services including: physical, occupational and speech therapy; post-surgical orthopedic care; respiratory care; and additional sub acute care services.
