Established more than 50 years ago OCO offers more than 50 different human services programs that serve 20,000 people annually. These programs strive to eliminate the impact of poverty and increase the quality of life in Oswego County. That, combined with a staff of 500 employees, makes OCO one of the most vital organizations in Oswego County.
OCO’s “Giving Thanks” event serves as a vehicle to highlight its many programs and services and as a fundraiser to ensure that OCO will be able to maintain and continue to make these programs and services available.
In keeping with its theme of “Giving Thanks” the event will feature an assortment of Thanksgiving inspired food and refreshments. Food stations throughout the venue will offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy harvest season delicacies courtesy of area restaurants including Canale’s Restaurant, Mill House Market, La Parrilla, Blue Moon Grill, The Press Box, Mimi’s Drive-In, and The Eis House. Additional stations will offer choices from Ontario Orchards, CiTi Culinary Arts, Appledale Orchards, Colosse Cheese, and OCO Nutrition Services. Wine and beer samples from Eagle Beverage will pair with the foods featured at each station.
Entertainment for the evening will be the incomparable Loren Barrigar. A world renowned guitarist, songwriter, recording artist, and session musician, Barrigar, at 6 years of age, was the youngest instrumentalist to ever play at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. Barrigar has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe and has performed with acoustic guitar virtuoso Tommy Emanuel.
“We are thrilled to have such an outstanding performer as Loren Barrigar as our special guest entertainer,” said OCO Development Coordinator Margaret Barclay. “It's a rare opportunity to hear one of the world’s most accomplished and recognized acoustic guitar players in an intimate setting. It will be a real treat for anyone that appreciates fine musicianship.”
In addition to the support OCO’s “Giving Thanks” fundraiser has received from area restaurants and business several community minded businesses and individuals have sign on as event sponsors including Gold Level sponsor The Fulton Companies.
“The Fulton Companies has always strived to help organizations in our community that make a difference in the lives of our employees and their families,” said Bram Palm, president and CEO of The Fulton Companies. “OCO serves vital needs within our community and we are happy to help OCO continue its mission of Inspiring partnerships and providing services that empower people, support communities, and change lives.”
