Sandra Hughes has served as both president and treasurer for the Fulton Mill Tenant Association Board. Her life experiences have given her an inside view on the challenges that life offers, and she would like to find ways to help others who may also be facing hard times.
Linda Hughes, resident services coordinator at Fulton Mill Apartments understands the needs of the residents at the apartments. While Hughes was always aware of OCO once she became resident services coordinator she began to better understand OCO’s role in the community and recognize the struggles and challenges that OCO consumers face and how OCO makes their lives better.
“When I discovered how much OCO does for our community I was impressed. I see first-hand how many of our disabled and seniors would be lost if it weren't for the transportation that OCO provides. I wanted to learn more about OCO’s programs and services. I called OCO in hopes of visiting its offices and speaking with some of its staff. When I did, it was suggested that I become a board member and learn the full extent of what OCO does,” said Linda Hughes.
“OCO truly is a vital resource for our community. OCO’s programs and services make our disabled residents lives much fuller and rewarding. OCO’s transportation service often brings residents to doctor visits and medical facilities. OCO also partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension to provide a raised garden bed for our residents. I’m very much a fan of OCO and all they do for our community. I’m proud to have been elected to, and be able to serve on, OCO’s board of directors,” added Hughes.
“We are pleased to welcome Sandra and Linda to our board of directors," said Cooper-Currier. “Their care for our community and their willingness to help others makes them a wonderful addition to our board.”
