The Oswego Players and the Art Assoiciation of Oswego recently celebrated the players 80th anniversary season with a kickoff banquet and Gala. The event also celebrated the 55th anniversary year of the Civic Arts Center facility.

The newly elected President of the Oswego Players Paul McKinney hosted the event along with AAO President Laurie Kester starting with a celebratory banquet with a Gala at the Civic Arts center building. This included an informal reception, a preview performance of The Oswego Players production of the Tony award winning comedy "ART" combined with an actual art experience in the AAO's galleries.

During the festivities several members of the Oswego players were honored with life time achievement awards including out going Player President Rick Sivers, board member Sonia Lough Berlin, and board member Ken Snow.

The Oswego Players was founded in 1938 by the late Oswego High School Drama Director Frances Marion Brown. In 1963 the Players and the predicesor of the Art Association renovated the old commisary building at Fort Ontario into theater, gallery and studio spaces that were later designated as the Civic Arts Center..

The theater space, named after the organization's founder, now hosts up to six shows a year including dramas, mysteries, comedies, musicals, and children's theater.

The AAO hosts several shows throughout the year along with art classes on several levels and in many mediums.
