Born in Liverpool, he was the son of the late David and Erma Chapman and was a graduate of the Liverpool High School. Mr. Chapman was a veteran who served over twenty years with the United States Army. He retired from the Indian Springs Manufacturing in Jordan N.Y. and was a Oswego City Crossing Guard. He loved camping and traveling.
He was an avid race car fan with Jeff Gordon being his favorite. He was a season ticket holder of the Oswego Speedway.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, the former Marilyn Perry, two sisters, Shella Ventrone of Florida, Charlotte Laffin of Mexico, step children, Kenneth Cornelius, Louise Cornelius, Melissa Cornelius, Wayne (Laurie) Cornelius all of Oswego, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Chapman.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
