The course will take place at the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble St., Pulaski, each from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays from Nov. 1 to Dec. 6 (no class Thursday, Nov. 22).
The course will cover how to help prevent falls and reduce injuries if a fall occurs. Participants will learn activities that are fun to do, such as the “Jiggle Wiggle,” and “The Slump,” that are designed to reduce not only falls, but fear of falling.
Class instructors, RSVP volunteers Deborah Halliday and Rachel Brooks, are also certified as master trainers for the RSVP Bone Builders Program, an exercise regimen used to control osteoporosis.
Those interested should call Halliday at 315-387-5896 to register. The cost is $25, which covers all class materials. Current osteo class participants will receive a 50% discount on the class.
In addition to recruiting, placing and supporting volunteers, RSVP offers Mature Living, a free bimonthly newsletter with news and information that is national and local in scope and of interest to older Americans. For more information on this and other RSVP programs, contact the RSVP office at 315-312-2317 or [email protected]
Part of a nationwide network of Senior Corps programs, RSVP is a federal initiative of the Corporation for National & Community Service and is sponsored locally by SUNY Oswego and the United Way.
