Nestled along Main Street in Mexico, New York is a gym that combines inspiration, fun and determination into one powerful package.

With the support of her husband, children and entire family, Chrissy Mason opened Take Charge Strength Studio in 2017 to fill the need for a local and personal fitness center. Take Charge Strength Studio was conceived with the idea in mind that they could help people achieve goals they never thought possible. Whether the goal is to lose weight, deadlift 225 pounds or just to get into better shape, Chrissy and partner, James Zemotel, provide an atmosphere for those who may be uncomfortable with the typical gym environment. Inspiring their clients and helping them gain the confidence they need to reach, maintain and even surpass their objectives is what they are all about. Chrissy, herself, is a prime example of what can be obtained with hard work, determination and plain old drive. Even with her never say die attitude and go hard or go home style, she always has the time to have a little fun with everyone at the studio. Developing a fun, but disciplined mood in the studio is what has made Chrissy, James and all of the independen, personal trainers so successful at Take Charge.

Take Charge Strength Studio is not only helping build muscles, but they are also helping to build their community. With deep roots in the Mexico area, they are very active with the local chamber of commerce. Having a positive impact on the growth of Mexico is a very important part of who they are and what they want to help their hometown achieve. Last year, Take Charge Strength Studio, along with Stefano’s Pizzeria sponsored a 5K called The Winter Runderland. The event amassed of over 40 runners and the entrance fee was canned goods and/or donations to Operation Reindeer. Contributions to local baseball leagues and holding craft fairs to benefit Pop Warner are just a few more of the ways that Chrissy, James and everyone at Take Charge are giving back to their community. This August, Take Charge Strength is planning a fun run to benefit the Mexico Chamber of Commerce, so they can help more local businesses with advertising and events.

If you’re looking for a place to get into shape and access to knowledgeable trainers, but don’t feel comfortable at the big corporate gyms or just want a good workout with good people, stop into 3280 Main Street, Mexico and check out Take Charge Strength Studio. Chrissy and James are always happy to lend a hand, give advice and inspire you to get healthy. Ask them about their Core Deforce and Zumba classes(among others), upcoming events, fundraisers and how you can get involved.
