Thomas “Bodie” F. Schaffer, 64, of Oswego, died January 7, 2018, at Oswego Hospital surrounded by family.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Harold F. and MaryJane (Nelson) Schaffer.

Bodie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oswego State University where he majored in broadcasting. He retired as manager from OTB in Oswego.

He, along with his brother Hoter, coached the Elks Little League Baseball team for several years. He also coached St. Paul’s Leprechaun Basketball League. He was a member of the Oswego Elks and of the Baseball Hall of Fame

Thomas is survived by his wife, Teresa “Terry” L. (Mangano) Schaffer; his daughter, Erin (Brodie) Weaver of Oswego; his son, Eric (Stephanie) Schaffer of Rochester; his brother, Harold (Pilar) Schaffer of Georgia, his sister, Susan (Larry) Narolis of North Carolina; and his two grandchildren, Riley Schaffer and Carter Weaver.

He is predeceased by his brother, Robert J. “Hoter” Schaffer.

Calling hours will be 1-4 pm Sunday with a service to follow at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
